Dr.
Lund’s breadth of experience in mechanical engineering extends
from component fabrication and machine building to advanced design
and mathematical modeling of systems. He is currently on the research
staff at the University of California, San Diego (Dept. Applied
Mechanics and Engineering Science), and was associate professor
of mechanical engineering at California State Universities at
Fullerton and San Diego; academic work includes fundamental studies
in terrestrial and space-based solar energy systems, spacecraft
thermal management and component design, with over 25 publications.
Dr.
Lund has 20 years mechanical engineering experience in industry,
and currently maintains an active consultancy in technical thermal
and process systems. Recent consulting work for industry include
the following
- unique
high-temperature heat exchanger designs and analyses, including
spectral radiative effects, which have led to improved performance;
- advanced
component design, for high-temperature chemical processing;
- analytical
and experimental investigations of nonsteady, two-phase fluid/thermal
systems;
- performance
modeling for product development.
